I did'nt drive my s10 for a day or two and went to start it and all it would do is crank over but would'nt start. I pluged in my block heater, and tried later nothing. So I pulled off the dizzy cap and the rotor and cap were terrible replaced them and still no start. I checked for fuel today and its getting fuel, but no spark. Its a 88 4.3, this is my beater truck, but I still need it to run cause I can't drive my honda right now. I noticed that on the old dizzy cap it was missin a screw, and the new screw would'nt go in where that one was, than I noticed part of the old screw was stuck in there, if I drilled out that hole and was able to get he dizzy cap down better would that fix my problem?

that would probably solve you problem. the cap needs to lay flush so that the rotor can make contact with it. the old cap broke and came loose and wasnt able to make contact. now you have part of the old screw stuck in there not letting the cap screw go all the way down.

Carfully spray some PB Blaster on the broken screw and let it soak. Then use a smaller drill bit than the screw and drill through it, try to stay dead center. Then you can use an EZ out to remove the screw.
Spray the PB blaster up from the bottom of the screw hole to. I think it goes all the way through and if it does you may get lucky screw it through when your drilling it.
