2000 Ranger parked and now dead help please

I have a 2000 V6 automatic ranger pickup, I bought it 6 days ago from a person that sold it because they moved to another state, it has been starting and running fine, went out this morning and nothing not even a click when I turn the key to start position, the lights all work, radio etc, I put a new fully charged battery in and still not even a click, I moved the shift from park sereral times but still nothing, it did turn cold over night so I just thought the battery was went dead and as I said earlier I replaced it, any help would be appriciated so much for this is all my wife and I have to drive, not crying but need help on where to start, again thanks....Dipper

Start out by checking the wires that run from the battery all the way to the starter, look for a loose connection. Check all the fuses, make sure you check to see if there are any fuses under the hood. If you know how to use a voltmeter or 12 volt test light I would start checking to see where you have voltage in the starting circuit. Or you could just try doing what a lot of people do and jut start throwing parts at it hoping to get lucky. If you have already replaced the battery you want to look at the battery cables, starter, starter relay or solenoid or both whichever one it uses. Fuses, Ignition switch, or MLPS (nuetral safety switch).

Did you happen to use a different key on the morning it wouldn't start??

those keys have rf transmiters in them and have to be programed so if you did use a different key it might not be programed or the transmiter may have fell out???

100% and that was the problem, when I purchased the truck I was given 2 keys and on the morning I tried to start the truck I was using the 2nd key and that was the problem, I did a lot of checking and changed a few parts, a key was just too simple I suppose to think of for me, I thank you and the others so much for the great information.
