Rodeo 2001 v6 - change plugs?

I've done my share of getting grease on my hands but I'm stupid with this one. I want to change the spark plugs on my 2001 Rodeo v6 but don't have a clue how to get the cover off the installed plugs? I removed the two screws but there is a great deal of resistance when I try to pul the cover off. It seems to be a rubber housing? Help.

Yes, it's a whole bunch of fun! I've attacked them with two pairs of needle nosed pliers. Get one on each side of that top grommet, twist, yank and pull :banghead: . The whole black plastic/rubber tube will eventually pull out of the plug tower. They stick to the sparkplugs from all the hot/cold cycles. Put a dab of silicone greas on the plug tops so the tubes will pull right out next time.

o remove the coil over the plug, remove the two screws, then unplug the connector (two wires going in) then twist twist twist the coil (wrap fingers under the coil), and then twist and pull up. If you only tug up it may not come off the plug. The key to getting to the drivers side firewall plug is to use 2 short extensions, a U-joint, and the long extension. Then by feeding the short extensions into the plug hole one at a time followed by the u-joint and the long extension. -OR- If the have the all three drivers side coils off you can remove the rear drivers side plug using your socket and 2 3" extensions (no u-joints). Also, if you remove all three coil packs you can get to the rear plug with 2 three inch extension and NO u-joint. The easy way to get the plug back in the hole is to place a piece of rubber tube (or a clear flexible tube) onto the end of the plug and then put the assembly into the hole and gently screw it in to assure that you are not cross threading the plugs. Make sure you place some di-electrical grease on the top of the plug and some anti-seize on the treads.

We saw very little snow in the city. I was disappointed because I wanted to take my Rodeo out for some fun four wheeling. There is a lake effect snow advisory right now, but it's nothing so far. Very snow-free winter this year. :frown:

i had 7 inches....not that i'm rubbing it in or anything. it was even on a saturday morning..hehe...still not rubbing it in.....

of course, i found out i either need a winch or bigger tires..but we won't talk about that...
