Hi, I brought my Taurus 99 into the Ford Dealer to check out the "customer satisfaction" 150,000 coil spring checkup. No go on a free repair, but they called and quoted me $150 to change the "Sway bar end link" on the right front wheel, said this was a "knock" occasionally heard when I turn a left corner.
is this important to replace, and how many monies?
:naughty:

The swaybar links are a sore spot for the Taurus, failures are common, they rattle pretty good over bumps, parts are probably 10-30 each side depending who makes them, most auto parts stores stock them,,, as for labor to install, check around.. I'm pretty sure they're not hard to install.. check them out yourself.. btw, did the dealer install coil spring covers as part of the inspection of the springs, there was a recall notice for inspection, there have been numerous failures of coil springs on Fords...

Buy the steel endlinks.
I believe it is Moog that makes them.
It will take longer to take the wheel on and off and jack up the car than it will to change them.

your '99 should've come with steel endlinks and they should be fine unless you beat on your car.
The ford crooks, I mean technicians, are used to the '00+ which has plastic endlinks which clunk from the day they roll off the lot.

Covers I think not, i felt so out of place pulling in my rusting $2000 price tag taurus into that polished garage, all the exec wifes there to "get an oil change" no wonder, they didn't do anything must have not been worth their time.
I'm going to call ford tomorrow, i would hope that the coil spring covers would have been mandatory, also since the car was originally from Jersey.
