Clicking/crackling noise

I have noticed that lately when I get up to about 55+MPH, I have this clicking/crackling noise coming from somewhere on the far left side behind the dash. I had a McDonald's bag in the seat next to me on the way to work this morning and it was making the EXACT same noise. Any idea what this is?

i have a similar sound but it is on the top of the windshield and towards the passenger side, i think it is a air leak, the faster i go the louder it gets and if i am driving into a head wind it is really annoying.

It's probably the black weather stripping around the outside of the windshield. This problem almost always occurs with bug shields. I don't see one on either of your trucks but sounds like the same issue. The weather stripping is not secured to the windshield and as air passes over the windshield it gets under the stripping and as it flaps so fast it sounds like crackling. When I first heard it on my truck I thought it sounded like shorting wires. The fix: use double sided tape and secure the stripping to the windshield. I also added a bead of black silicone down the edge.

I just had mine replaced on that side maybe 6 months ago. My noise seems to be coming from the lower dash/kick panel area

Don't know. Do you have separation between the stripping and windshield? Can you lift the stripping up from the windshield? I had a hard time pinpointing the noise on my truck. Taped it down and it was good to go.

Did you run any wires through your firewall one of your groument could of came out and the wind noise is coming in also if you park where alot of leaves fall. if you open your door and look between your door and front panel they might have a little collection ogf leaves there.

I have that same noise except on the passenger side. I think it maybe the window seal.. I need to get my windshield replaced any how.. Hopefully that will fix it.

I have the same noise in my '99 Z71. Most noticible in the winter with the defroster running. The clicking/cracking noise is to the left and rear of the driver seat. After about 2 years I figured out where it was coming from. It's coming out of the left rear speaker! Figure that one out!

I have the same problem, it maybe your speaker blown out. unless you have the bose system, they put in pretty cheezy speakers.
