:( hello everyone
quick question? I have an 88 735i. yesterday, I noticed temp. gauge went all the way to red. I let it sit to cool of then, I check if the water pump is dead by pulling the host out from (I guess it's the waterpump) & then, crank it to see if there's water comes out. and, there is. so I figure water pump is good. put the host back, refill water then start engine. at this time I hold the host going to radiator to check if there's water going thru but, there is also. coz, the host got hot and when I loosen up the clamps water start squirting out. at this point I think my thermostat is still okay. I really don't know what else to check but, I know for sure it will cost me arm & a leg when I take my car in to the shop. also, I just remember my radiator has a small leak on the top side corner but I never let it run out of water. cheked it everyday. if anyone had this problem or have somemore adviced on what to do or, check pls. let me know.
thanks in advanced

I had the same problem in my 1990 BMW IL.It was due to a air lock.I was advised to bleed the antifreeze by opening the bleed screw on the thermostat housing and let the air bubbles go , while pouring antifreeze.
I did that and now the temperature needle is exactly in the middle.

bweera,
Thank you for your reply and advised. I was actually going to take the car tomorrow at the dealership to get diagnostic & find out what the problem is. but, now I'll try what you've done to your car first before I take it in. and, hopefully I get lucky and fix the problem too. I will post it here if I succeeded.
again, thanks for your help

I tried bleeding it. but, didn't work for me. then, come to find out that, my water pump gone bad. well, since I been driving the car w/ bad water pump ( I didn't noticed ) some how the clutch fan got fried. and, I have to replaced it too. Ooh and it need new thermostat also. well, when it's finally put back together, & done refilling it w/ coolant and water. I then, started the car and, guess what??? everything back to normal. it cost me money but, I know for sure it would of cost me alot more if I took it, to dealership. by the way, it only took 3 days to finish this project. :D
peace
