Hello Pals

I just bought an Astro 96, still do not know if this is a good acquisition because it already has 190,000 miles besides I have never got a Chevrolet car, but it looks on pretty good conditions, you are the experts here…

What do you recommend that I should check or change?
I know I have to make a tune-up but…
i.e. What about the O2 sensors and other stuff

Any comments on it would be appreciated

I would check all you ball joints, tie rods, and probably replace if you don't know when they were done last. I bought a 1996 2 years ago, it past safety and all, then 6 months after buying it, the right front top ball joint broke after hitting a bump in the road, I was doing 50 miles an hour at the time. I was told then that all Astros and Safari's have a problem with steering components.

do a compression check to see what kind of condition your engine is in.

also of course do your fluids and filters.. check for leaks

i totally agree with tableman's post too !!

rip off your wheels and check the bearings.

if you notice your car is getting bad gas mileage then get new O2's..

Changing a fuel filter is cheap insurance.
