Hey,

Im actually a new chevrolet owner. Unfortunatly i need some help installing a stereo i have. Does anybody know of a good website that will show me how to install my pioneer head unit into my 1990 Chevrolet Lumina. Ive looked eveywhere for a website and havent found one. The reason why i am asking is because as i said before im new to owning a chevrolet. I used to have a 1977 Classic Ford Bronco. If there isnt a website maybe can anybody give me a brief description on how to install it? Do i need to look out for anything? What are the hardest things? I am not even sure how to take out the old stereo. Im not quite sure how to take the dash (where the stereo is off). Any help would be highly appreciated. Call me stupid but im new at the whole chevrolet deal. Hopefully you guys wont rip me a new one.

And another thing. My tach is off some, actually quite a bit. The thing says it idels at 2500 RPM's and the engine doesnt even sound like its that high. The speedometer is off a little too, i think it runs a little high, so if im going 50, im really going 45ish. The car runs great but the sensors are off.. Any ideas? Is it a quick fix?

hey the best site for aftermarket stereo units and systems is www.crutchfield.com (http://www.crutchfield.com). they are the best in my opinion as far as suppling very detailed instructions for every vehicle known to man, and selling premium products at great prices. im not sure but i think they sell they manuels seperately for units. maybe not. but its worth a try. on the website they have a customer hotline for orders and questions. try calling them if you cant find what your looking for on the website. their instruction pamplets are phenemonal. very detailed and precise. good luck and let me know how it goes

you have the pull the wood grain thing off in the middle of the dash. its not too hard, but will break easily. so go gentle. then the old radio is held in by two 7mm dolts i believe. take thos out and the old one can be pulled right out. next step would be to go to target and pick up the install kit. read in there how to put it together. it gives decent directions. the kit will come with a wire harness. black to black, red to red, green with a black strip to green with a black stripe. tape any that are not used. you will also need an antenna adapter. that is why i said get the install kit from target, all of this si included in the gm kit for only 15.99 i believe. whereas wall-mart sells the mounts for 9.99, the wire harness for 9.99, and the antenna adapter for 9.99. once your radio has all the mounts and the right harness instaled, it should plug straigt in, and bolt straight down where the old one came out of. pop the plastic wood grain back on and enjoy good tunes. ;)

This is actually one of the easiest things to do to your car! I HIGHLY reccomend buying the install kit w/ adaptor so you can use all your stock speakers/wiring. They sell these at wal-mart for $20, I bought one for my car and it definately made it easier to hook up my system in my '92. I went a little overboard though with a DVD player and TFT screens and a PS2 and stuff, but if you just want to swap out your head unit it's VERY simple!
