Okay, i'm headin up the interstate ramp and i feel a snap inside my throttle and i lose all throttle response....so after pushing my bike off the ramp and across a small field to mcdonalds, i called Streitz (local bike store) and the guy said that it was my 'open' throttle cable? Its only about 30.00 but its gonna take like 4-5 days to get my part, through them or the internet... The throttle feels loose and i can feel something catching slightly when i twist the throttle a little, but the bike does not respond...Does that sound like the open throttle cable?? Also, i googled it and searched, but can someone explain how the throttle cable system works on the ninja ex250? I was lookin at the parts on bike bandit and they had a closed cable and an open one.....help me out guys, i'm not understandin' it, though i'm sure its simple...i need an answer quick cuz i need to get my bike runnin' real soon...i have work on tuesday and if i have to drive my g/fs golf again, i'm gonna hurl (puppy print seat covers.....:banghead: ).

Streitz in Gainesvill, Florida by any chance? Anyway, I used to live up there and those guys are pretty good. If they checked it out or told you they think it is that, they are probably right. As far as your particular bike goes, I'm not exactly sure about that setup, so hopefully someone else will have an answer for you about how your throttle cable system works...

in your car you have a hefty spring to pull the pedal back up but its a bit hard to mount a return throttle spring on the handle bars of a bike so you have a dual cable system. one cable opens and one closes. feel lucky you didn't break the close throttle or you be in some real deep poo......

i took the bike apart yesterday, and it was the open throttle cable, its the one with the curly thing on the end right? I ordered a new part and i should have it tomorrow, so my lil 250 will be back on the road :grinyes: . Now if i could just get my 240 back on its rubber. Was only about 30.00 for the cable.
