turn key to on position, depress gas pedal to floor 3 times, turn off key. Next time you turn key on, it should be reset.

Turning on the ignition key then pressing the gas pedal down 3 times doesn't turn off the change oil lite. I think someone pulled a quick one on me for that response. I can take a joke but I guess I'll have to look elsewere for help in the future. Phxamigo

no no, hes actually right. just put the key to the ON position, just where the radio, and lights and stuff comes on, and push the pedal down 3 times within a 5 second window. turn the key to off, start the car, if the change oil light is blinking when you start the car and then goes away, you reset the oil light.

What year and model is your Grand Prix?

Do you have a DIC (Digital Information Center) that shows oil life?

On the manual procedure without a full DIC, with key in RUN, engine not started you press the gas pedal slowly 3 times within 5 seconds. The change oil light should flash indicating reset. Then turn off and start vehicle.

On my GTP I have a full DIC and reset must be performed at the DIC.

Do you have a DIC which has the oil life monitor? If not try the manual procedure again.

If so, change MODE on DIC till it says OIL and just hold the reset for about 3 seconds and it should reset to 100.

I'm glad the one I have is a no brainer. Nice and simple RESET button. What is the verdict. Has he tryed any of the procedures to reset?

I wonder if Pontiac for 2003 models went to the system Chevy has where you reset oil life through the radio by going to DISP. :dunno:

i know the "key on, press accelerator 3 times" procedure works for my dads 02 yukon, sounds legitimate for a gp too. but as for me, i like the reset button on my 97 gtp.
