Yeah, you can do it. Most Broncos (Full-Size) came with the c-4, c-6, or AOD tranny. Depends perhaps on the year. (They went away from the c-6's in the late eighties/early ninties) But for the most part, it should bolt right up!

Happy Hunting.

(I'm in the process of putting a 4-spd into a 5.8-and there are a bunch of questions I need to have answered, but que sera, sera.)

If the c-6 was attached to the 400, it won't work. The bolt pattern is different. You can get a 302 to fit a 351, but the 400 block has the top holes at least two inches too wide. You might try to find an adapter plate, or, if you're lucky-you can unbolt the bellhousing. If you're bellhousing is cast, you're out of luck.

What part number is the TC? There are different ones. Some have the New Process 205 (NP 205)-I have the Borg Warner 13-56( BW-13-56) The difference in some years is the spline count. Look at the "teeth" coming out of the Tranny, and you'll count them. Some are, like, 28, some 31. You can see what problems you'll have in that. I'm not at all familiar with anything out of my year range in trucks, but I know old Ford cars have a lot to do with Spline Count. Do some searching on the net about the C-6 and transfer cases, and I'm sure you'll find someone who knows more about it than we do collectively.

(You can tell the part number on the Transfer case by looking at it. Mine Reads, "Borg Warner 13-56XXXXX")

Did you ever find out about that bellhousing? Does it unbolt?
