I have a 00 zx2. I want to switch out my manual transmission with an automatic.(Stick shifts are no fun in Los angeles traffic) Does anyone know if this is NOT possible? Are the bolt patterns on the trannys the same? do i have to change the cpu chip? Can i just bolt on the auto tranny? thanks for the help

it IS possible, you will need a PCM from an auto....but the auto is a VERY weak tranny, and I broke one after 20k of "spirited" driving on a stock motor.

you may not find manual fun..but its giving you better gas milage...and its gonna last longer (i know people on auto tranny #5)

thanks for the help. I have heard that the auto trannys are not very reliable, perhaps it isnt such a good idea afterall.............=(.

personally im at 31 grand and my auto has yet to go out. but i would just sell the car or trade it for an auto. i also think it depends on your driving. i dont really beat on mine much... granted everynow and then i gotta try and put the local rice in its place. still though my car has had its share of problems, the shift from 1st to second at times can be anything but quick, and the car will kick when i put it into gear. but thanks to the warentee the dealership has been fixing it for me... but then it will return. so just be aware of these kinds of things.
