installing cigarette lighter in 89 std

ok well i have an std civic with no lighter in it, i went to put in one with the little amber light around it and boy did i blow some fuses. at first the light came on when i pushed the lighter in, but then it didnt get hot. so i tried to rewire it and messed it up. does anyone know how to do this? it has like 3 prongs on it. one on the bottom middle, one on the housing, and one on the light, i dont know where the wires go to because it doesnt have instructions or show polarity. thanks

Housing should be to a ground (that is the outter ring of the plug in), and the other 2 should be a switched 12v power source (a power source only on when the ignition is on) or to 12v always on source if u want it on all the time...
