How do people become mods?

I dont know if this has been asked befroe so im just going to ask. To become a mod on these forums do we have to be nice to others, have a lot of car knowledge, Post a lot, or just be a member for a long time, or all of the above?

Basically you need to work up a good reputation. Good posts (although a bit of fun here and there never hurt anyone), Being helpful, and showing that you are mature enough to handle the responsibility. Its not something that happens overnight either.

What Hummerman said :D It also helps to get to know the current mods so they can develop an opinion on you because their input helps decide whether you make the cut or not.
