its a 305tbi, unless of course its been switched over to tpi, stock it came with tbi though 170hp. nothing special but like any smallblock it responds well to bolt ons.

if you have a round air cleaner on top, then it's a TBI.

ok then it must be an TBI because it have a big round air filter on it, thats why i thought it was carbed. are there any bolt on's that you'd recommend? thats are great Hp boost for the money..thanks

On the 305 TBI, there were some issues with the heads and cam that really made it a dog, so I dont know how much performance you can really get with that motor. Dont get me wrong, you can get some more performance then you have right now, but to get some serious power, your going to have to look into changing a few major components.
Basic mods for TBI motors are open air/CAI, LT1 cam, heads, exaust, posi, and maybe some minor tuning, which SHOULD put you into low 14s.

Like I said in your other thread, do you see a black olive looking deivce with wires coming out of it? if so your TBI. If not, the cars been molosted back to a carb.
TPI would be a no brainer due to the idle speed cover that says "Tuned Port Injection" on it.

wheres 92RS when you need him.....
not knowing your wrench spinning skills, youd want to look into the following primary mods.
Exhaust system, including headers, high flow cat, and free breathing catback, some people suggest a 3.0in system but for a mild 305 id reccomend a 2.5in system to keep exhaust velocity up.
cam, the factory one was a dog, as was mentioned an LT1 cam can be used or you can get an aftermarket one, i like comp cams xtreme energy line. or if youre more concerned with off the line oompf, gmpp makes an awesome cam they put in the HT383 and RamJet 350 that makes gobs of torque which is really more important for a dailly driven car and would certainly be felt in the seat of the pants.
also as was mentioned the heads are rather effective door stops, but dont do alot in the name of power. upgrading to a set of vortec heads would definatly help ya out with that, although there are some complications to worry about, namely needing a new intake maniofld that needs some custom plumbing to pull exhaust gasses out of the headers and routed up to the front of the manifold to the EGR valve.
If you dont want to go through all that there are plenty of aftermarket solutions, you could get some 305 torquer heads, or rebuild the ones you have with a port, polish, and undercut valves for more flow.
also what might not be obvious is that perhaps the best money spent, and the biggest seat of the pants improovments i have yet felt, are spent in the drivetrain.
look into a set of rear gears. opinions vary on which are best, but popular gears for a car you drive everyday vary from 3.23 to 4.10, id pick something in the middle, or lower end for something you drive every day.
also a transmission rebuild and shift kit will make a huge difference. I had my 700R4 rebuilt with a full B&M kit with a stage two shift kit, corvette servo, and a 2600 stall converter and it has been by far the best mod i have done (keep in mind the only engine mod i have yet done is headers.)

what he said....
and check out thirdgen.org they got alot of stuff that can help...theres a guy on there that just has headers, open element, 3.42 posi, and custom chip work and hes running 14.5's...the tbi computer is very week stock too so you can either get an aftermarket one or invest in your own chip tuning and more info can be found on thirdgen.org for that too...and just try a search here too for 305tbi mods...thats what i did when i was lookin for stuff to do to my tbi
