Brake shims question?

Hi everyone,
Does anybody know what the risk is for not puting shims on brake pads for the J.

you dont have to have them but it is advised you put them on.

I put on aftermarket organic brake pads on the front and back and the front brakes didn't have shims.
I was just wondering because after I drive for about 5 minutes, the brakes start to grind/make a grinding noise in the front.
I guess the grinding/grinding noise is a different problem.

well those shims help seat the brake pads better. keeps em snug ...

shims are used for that reason put the old ones back
