Short Shifter question

I have a 96 2.2 Cav and I'm looking to install a short shifter to replace the stock.

The only one I've been able to find is the B&M short shifter which is very pricey. B&M makes one for 00 and up and for 95-99 models. Of course the one I want is more expensive. Fidanza only makes a shifter for the 00 and up cavs.

Does anyone know if there is actually a difference in the two models?

Also, does anyone know of any other manufacturers that make a short shifter for my 96?

Can I ask what you did to screw up your Cav so that I can avoid doing the same thing?

Also, you installed a short shifter for your 2000 cav. I have a 96, which for some reason lists a different short shifter from B&M. One for 95-99 and one for the 00 and up.
