How about this idea?

I have an aftermarket headunit now, with a removable faceplate, but who wants to carry around a faceplate? Not me. Here's what I was thinking:
I want to get a black piece of plastic that slides on over my aftermarket system. Just covers it up, doesn't stick out too far or anything. Then, I would take my stock unit (which was ruined when my dad plugged an incompatible changer into it and smoke came out) and basically shave off the front, then glue the front onto my black plastic cover bit. Voila! Instant crappy-look system, that no one would ever steal. I could stow the cover in those door pockets when not in use. What do you guys think? Feasible? I could even make it look like I had an 8-track.

Hmmm. Very interesting, I'd say an hour or so of fun with glue, a hack saw, file, and a vise should do the trick :) Take some pics of it too :D

Sounds like it could work, but remember to keep it small, so that it doesnt stick out too far.
