LX turned into GT

Hi guys...I just got my stang yesterday and my friend gave me his GT emblems. I put them on my car and now it's a mustang gt. What do you guys think?

No...it's the lowest grade mustang...

I guess I was asking if yours was a LX 5.0, LXV6, or LX 4 cylinder. I take it from your reaction yours is either the 4 or the 6.

Mine is a six cylinder. They didn't make four cylinders for 2001 mustangs...

im assuming they kept the LX around a few yrs after 93..but i know for a yr or to they had the GTS that was a v6 style/options with the GT motor.

I think they had the GTS in 94/95. It was still a GT but without leather and a couple other things. It still had the GT entire drive train and badges. My buddy has a bad ass GTS right now. Here is his website. http://mazduh.info/

I have a similar situation and was glad to see this question come up.

I have a '93 LX, five-oh, five-speed, convertible. I just put Cobra badges on it....so can I expect to do better with, ummm....you know......the ladies?

I'm also expecting the gas mileage to go down because of the change in the aerodynamics that the stick-on badges cause...but do you think the fact that the car is painted red will offset that problem?

But seriously, if you have a v6, sport it as one, supe it up past v8 specs and be proud of it. Your car is not a GT just cause you put GT emblems on it.

Yeah...The ladies will come. They came after I turned it into a GT, so you should expect the same with the cobra badges....

U shouldn't use plain PVC...that would look totally lame....get some stick-on carbon fiber-look vinyl to wrap it in...now your stylin' an' the extra insulation from wrapping the PVC will boost up your HP too :grinyes:

The only dumb thing was he made his car a GT when he could have had a Salleen or Rousch for only about $5 more...sure, sure, I know their emblems do cost more, but I think driiving a Salleen is worth the extra money :grinyes:

I honestly don't see a difference between my gt and gt's that came from the factory as a gt. I raced one the other day and almost beat him. Maybe if I had a spoiler or something, the extra hp and downforce would've helped out. I'll take anyone of you. My car got quick as hell since I did the conversion, I'm getting it dynoed at a shop this weekend...then I'll show you guys what's up...

please tell me your posts arent serious. if i remember correctly you have an 01? those dyno to 170 rwhp stock, a GT dynos around 225. not to mention the GT has about 80 more ft/lbs, torque is what wins races, not horsepower, also, with the stock open diff its is nearly impossible to hook up perfect as where the GTs have a t-lok but still have problems hooking up, if you were to race a non-PI mustang with stock 2.73 gears and you had every bolt-on with no F/I then i would say that was belivible, but a stock V-6 and a stock GT, no way in hell.

please tell me your not serious about this, and did you call your insurance and say that you now have a GT then?

Don't you see, that's the beauty of it! He now has a real GT but his insurance company still thinks its a V6!! Quite ingenious really. Plus he saved a ton of money over buying a GT from the dealership.

gas milage is about the same on GT and V-8, some one over on mustangforums gets better milage in a GT with 3.73s and a vortch then my stock 6er gets.

now i think this thread needs to go and die.
