Eh, take a good look at the vin, it's from before the current system came into play.

what year vehicle????
basically the vin tells what main options the vehicle came with. aka, engine size, manual or auto trans, body type, year, make, model, the last few digits tend to be the serial number of that type of vehicle in numeric order of production.

oohhh, interesting looking place, have to go there sometime.
What I meant was in the VIN the first digit, if it's a 1 it is from the U.S., if it's a 2 it's from Canadian, etc .
Much like the eight digit will be different based on engine type, the tenth would be different based on the year built, etc....

if you're lucky enough, maybe the build sheet is still under the back seat? That will have all your options listed, and all. It's basically the cars birth certificate.
