Changed Blower Motor & Fuse - Still not working

Any ideas why new blower motor would not work? Fuse did not appear to be bad. Is there a possibility that I blew out something on the switch No responses to previous posting:banghead: so I'm not sure anyone will have the answer to this one.

Check at the connector where the blower motor plugs in. Turn on the blower and there should be 12 v ( with the key on) going to the blower motor. Use a multi-meter or a test light. If there is current there, the motor is bad. No current would be a bad fuse, bad switch, or broken/disconnected wire. If the blower runs on high speed only, the blower motor resistor is bad. A problem like this must be diagnosed by tracing the current flow from fuse to switch to motor to see where the problem is. If you have a repair manual with a wiring diagram, it can help.

thanks. picked up the switch, but when I opened it all up, the switch and connector were both fried. dealer is telling me that the connector is part of the instrument panel wiring harness..$1,400.00 for the part. I have to figure out if I can actually splice the wires in some way to connect it to the switch.

You had better get to your local "Pull-A-Part" with a pair of wire cutters and get one of those connectors. Might save you about $1390. Get some "butt connectors" from Autozone and crimp the wires back together. Make sure you leave plenty of wire to do the crimping.

Thanks for the guidance! Used female connectors on each individual wire to plug into the new switch. None of the wires were fried....all in good condition. Had to cut them from the old plug and had little additional length to work with, but just enough to get the job done... $45.00 fix when all is said and done. Now I just need to get the dashboard cover back on. It was an olympic feat to get it off...:grinno:

I had a similar problem with my ignition switch. The connector from the main harness melted on one side. I managed to clean the nasty stuff off and simply spliced, as you did, short wires with individual connectors. That, and a new ign switch, cured my problem.

What year is that Jeep? I have a 2001 with no blower and no high speed.
I am hoping that I can just buy a switch.

1996 Jeep Cherokee SE. I had to buy the switch from the dealer. Before you do any of that...make sure the fuse is okay. Then check the connections to the switch and the switch itself. I melted my connector so it made it more complicated. Actually replacing the switch itself was not hard.
