Wow that sucks big time. Do you know if it was just built and how many miles he had on it before that happened?

it says it was the stock longblock, i'm guessing it was the original one.

Bad times.

Really, really bad times. Putting the car on dyno, like taking it to the track, puts it under more wear and tear than you're giving it on a daily basis.

Some of the guys at the shop were tools. Yeah, an f-body is a real car :bloated:

actually he went there to see how much power it would take before it blew up. He has a race motor going in or something, and wanted to have some fun. He didn't have a chance to run it with nitrous though, the car went lean as you can see from the dyno for some reason.

i highly doubt that. what person in their right mind would blow up a motor for no reason?

was that boost gauge accurate with 35psi?

My dad, a while back tried to blow a geo engine out of a metro, they were just holding the gas down in neutral and the damn thing never blew. I never knew why he did this though...

My friend Shawn had his 14b setup on his neon for a while before he built the engine. One day he went out to go to work and had a rod knocking. He said he needed a reason to rebuild it anyway to he revved it a couple times in his driveway and threw a rod out the side of the block. I saw the remains, it was fucked up. Definately went harder than he thought. IIRC, the rod snapped at the top by the piston and went out the side while the piston smacked the head. The two biggest pieces of the piston he found were a little bigger than the size of a quarter. Completely fucked block and head.

EDIT: What a fucking moron! An F-body is a real car. Mmmmm hmmmm . No offense to any F-body guys, but I dont think ~450hp is exactly a toy especially from Honda boy over there. Man that sucks. At least we know that the stock 7 bolt can take that much power. I still dont know why they would do that to a perfectly good engine, but whatever floats their boat. I kinda got a kick out of the oil puddle on the floor though.

I'm pretty sure those guys were just joking, they were obviously smiling when they said it.

The best memory I have of someone abusing the hell out of a car was Jesse James. Monster garage episode why he bought that mid 80's Olds Delta 88. He did a few little burnouts and then just had it in neutral with his foot on the gas. Damn thing never stopped running. The exhaust manifold was glowingand the radiator blew up. Then an oil fire started. But it never stopped running even on fire it was still going.

No he didnt... The guy is on DSMTalk. He is using Mega Squirt as an EMS and the guy that he had tune it for him doesnt understand the concept of "Knock/Detionation". 35psi on a 60-1 and he only made mid 400whp before the rod separated from the piston. The tuner has tried to blame it on the 7 bolt rods just being weak and failing at anything over 350whp but there are a lot of people out there who have run 450+whp daily driven 2gs with 7 bolts. The guys is working on a 6 bolt build over the next month or so.
