my most recent work:
i tend to be lazy sometimes so i skipped the painting and went directly to polishing the plastic.

finished result:
the kit actually sits pretty high, i had to lower it a bit. also i didnt have any "turn signal" clear paint, so i settled for regular orange paint, which unfortunately looks too bright.

http://img235.imageshack.us/img235/7688/dscn4752small9oe.jpg
also, i was wondering if anyone has any tips for blackwashing. sometimes it turns out ok...

but sometimes it turns out crappy... right now im using thinned out black enamel. is there something else you might recommend trying? all comments welcomed.

Really nice car. Clean work.
As I know black washing works on gloss paint much better. Then you should use flat coat.

great looking . . . errr. . . polishing job. quite a nice finish there.
as for the washing, i've gotten great results with this method:
1 - dip the brush into the color you're gonna wash with, then brush off the majority of the paint in the bristles (using the edge of the bottle or whatever.)
2 - take the brush over to the thinner. dip it in and give it a quick spin with your thumb and finger and it should start 'releasing' the paint from the bristles. then pull the brush out and quickly . . .
3 - touch the brush to a point of the edge/crease/what have you, and let the thinner carry the watery paint down it.
hasn't failed me yet. again, great lookin' car.

thanks guys. is polishing the right word? i used 3m rubbing compound. i had to sand down a few mold lines, but otherwise the plastic was already in pretty good shape. you'll have to apply more pressure to bare plastic compared to paint.

After reading this thread last night i didnt believe that this car wasnt painted! so i thought i'd try it on a spare body i had lying around as an experiment. I was surprised to see how shiny the plastic got, i do believe that if your in a hurry and dont want to paint the body this actually works out well.Only thing that i found is that injection mold swirl lines are visible even after a good polish, i think this tecnique work better on cars that are molded white. That said i still wouldnt give up on painting all my models.
You did a fantastic job with this kit! Well done...

someone who believes me! yes ur right, swirl marks wont go away, and i've only tried this with cars that are molded white so i can't confirm that it works for other colors. for those who are still skeptical, try it out ;)
@MidMazar - i recall asking u about how you did the tailights for your integra. thanks for the tip, it turned out just how i wanted them to. :)
@chyknees - i didnt use any clear, just polished.
