So, I recently asked formulaLT1 and he answered me right away, that a code 36 is a "MAF" problem. I had a spare maf so i switched it out. It worked fine for a day or two..but a few weeks later the CEL is still illuminated. Im not sure what the problem is. The MAF is a BOSCH and it still has its screen, thet two wires are fine. I also noticed that my engine is running a bit hesitantly. does anyone else have any ideas what the problem with my engine is? any help is greatly appreaciated. :)

Code 36. MAF burnoff not functioning properly. This should be an easy fix. The burnoff circuit is controlled by the MAF relay. You have a gen4? I"m not sure where it is on your car, but on the gen3 v6's it was located in front of the battery on the core support. Change the relay and the code should go away.

If honda ever decided to make a 5.7 Liter V-TEC motor it would make over 500whp...

Yes they would....THeir 1.6L v-tec motors make 165hp, their 2.0L v-tec motors make 200hp. American cars are very inefficient....and lack power per liter...

lack power? um no, waite to see mr. luos numbers when he gats his done, and anyways honda would never come out with a 350. rice is cheeper than gas,lol

Now to the thread starter. Did you reset the ECM after installing the new MAF?

Power per liter??? 100% ricer argument.

hey, No i didnt reset the ECM, but after i set up the new MAF, the error code DID go away...it just came back. i did however reset the ECM later, to see if it would go away...and it just came back. well the code went away..for some reason..because...i got into an accident and stuff and yeah..
the error code went away O_O. but..i didnt do anything.

If the code went away from the ecm's memory without you reseting it. Then you either have a faulty ecm/a loose prom/faulty ground..

well, the code still MAY be stored, but it doesnt have the CEL on anymore..? while i had the fender off, i did make a couple grounded wires tighter.

You need to reset a ECM whenever there is a code in the ecm's memory that has been taken care of. If you tried two MAF's the only two other possible causes are wiring or ECM. It is also possible you have a bent prong on the harness that is not making contact. I have had that happen before.

If the code is still coming up, you may still have a bad MAF relay like I posted b4. Many time in those cars, replacing that should turn off the code.

Ricer indeed, 200 hp at 8g's and no mid range torque, good luck!
