Hello all I have a 2002 Grand Am SE1 3.4L. And which I have an intake gasket leaking under the throttle body above the tranny. My question is, are these hard to change it looks rather easy. But im not sure what all im going to get into when I tear the top of the engine apart and what all im going to need to replace to change the intake gasket. So basically what all parts and not normal tools are needed for this. I rather do it myself to save like 5-600 bucks.

Thanks in advance

Best thing to do is to get a service manual. The phrase "Getting there is half the battle" has never been more true.

Make sure you get a manual! And good torque wrench.

Its not really hard to change the LI gaskets, but it is time consuming. I'd giv your self a good day(8hrs) if you hav not changed these before. Alot of the things on top of the motor and the front hav to come off.

Most important thing is to get the GM gaskets with the metal rings around the waterjackets, these will last longer than even the most expensive gasket set, I know from experiance.

You say its leaking from under the TB? You sure its coming from the intake and not the TBs coolant line down there?

Just making sure, they do blow out there around where the intake and block meet along that flat surface.
