Leganza CDX stereo EQ not working

A while ago (like a year or two) the EQ on my stock stereo (the controls between the radio and temp controls) stopped working right. It seems like it's not plugged in all teh way. When I push in on it it starts working again and I can see the bars display that moves with the music, but only when I push in on it. Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know how I can fix it so it works permanently without having to puch in on it. Thanks.
