97 Explorer Shake/Vibration @ 65+

Hey guys...

I just bought this thing, like 6hrs ago. i drove it back to my house 175m away, all hwy. 0-60 the truck does fine, other than a little hesitation when accelerating, but i know how to fix that. at 65-80 the truck will start to vibrate and then shake and then smooth out again. and its constant the whole trip. the shake is not in the steering but in the "seat" and the vibration is in the whole truck. i want to know if i can rule out the front end as the problem area. the steering is super tight and no pull either way.

tell me what ya think... i need to get this thing driveable for work thursday.

Or would it be in the drive shaft? U-joint? any ideas?

could be a bad tire, Ujoint or the tires may just need to be balanced id go with a u joint have you checked them at all

tires are fine tread wise... but i haven't checked the balance but it hard to get that checked for a high speed vibration, thats why i ain't done that yet. but i will be able to get under it tomorrow and check the Drive shaft and u joint.

Changed 2 rear tires and cured the shake. i appearantly had some busted belts in both tires. If anyone else has same problems, be sure to check for FLAT spots or bulges in the tires. Thanks for everyones input.

Hi guys... I have at Explorer 97 and 2 days ago I replace at front drive shaft.
Today when i was in the highway the truck start shakining like crazy. The tire is old, but look ok.
Can be the drive shaft don't place propertly? The truck is in normal drive, but i don't know it is possible the truck still in AWD active
Can someone help me with this issue
