I just pulled my burban out from being retired for a little over a year.. I rolled the back window down, and now cant get it to roll up by sticking the in the tailgate or the switch on the dash... Please help

My 86 Suburban had a switch inside the tailgate on the right side that was intermittent at times and wouldn't let the window roll up. Open the tailgate up and look inside where the latch is on the right side and you will see it. It has a metal plunger that depresses and closes the switch when you close the tailgate. If this switch isn't closing and making contact, the window will not operate. I sprayed mine with contact cleaner and it fixed it right up. :)

i have an 83 suburban that had this exact problem. It would roll down but not up...i unplugged said plug in righthand area of tailgate ,clipped the head off the plug and spliced them together...problem solved :)

That will certainly allow it to operate but I would be reluctant to leave it that way. With my luck I would get the tailgate not quite shut all the way; roll the window up only to have it crash into the frame and fill the back of the burb with glass crumbles. Much better to get a replacement switch.....
