transmission problems 97 gtp

i just got this car and i love it but after 2 weeks the transmission stoped shifting into 2nd gear and my tach stopped working. the trans was replaced at aamco a month before i baught it they also fixed a wire somewhere. i took it back to them and they told me that it was an electrical problem somewhere and i would have to take it to an electrical specialist. ANY SUGGESTIONS WHERE THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE .
