I have a 91 and the same problem, i had an 86 previously that i had to do a heater core on. Take the dash apart, starting with the dash pad, and working your way down, don't be shy, just pull it apart carefully and label and place screws carefully and it ain't too bad, well ya it is, it sucks, but unforatunately unavoidable, sorry. Good luck man!

you should be very carefull taking the dash apart on an 80 though, if you screw around with the gauge cluster at all, the printed circuit board behind them breaks extremely easy, i had to replace my speedo after i blew it in a race, and that circuit board was the worst part of the whole job.
