I just bought a 1992 9c1 for $500... it's in rough shape and needs a lot of work. One thing that's wrong is that when I apply the brakes, the backlight on the instrument cluster fades out. Also, the horn does not work. Is there a short somewhere? I have the repair manual with the electrical schematics but there are so many wires under the dash I can't make sense of them... Can anyone help?

Thanks for the replies. I disconnected all the extra wiring (strobe lights, CB antenna, etc) and caped off all remaining loose ends. This took care of the short. I'm going to check the horn contacts today to see if I can't fix that problem.
