my very first model complete. 70 chevelle

this is the very first model ive ever done.
i need criticism on what looks good, and what doesnt. keep in mind im still an amateur. the kit was a 1:25 ertl kit. its a '70 ss chevelle. i was trying to go for the pro touring look, i hope i accomplished it.

looks really good for your first one, keep up the work. :)

Great for a first build! The only real criticism is a lack of detail I guess, which you can certainly still work on. Bare metal foil on the SS badges, for example (you might want to BMF the door handle too.) Where'd you get the wheels, they look kickass!

EDIT: I'd also suggest picking up some Tamiya polishing compound to polish up that silver. The paint job looks nice and smooth, but pretty dull.

hey, thanks alot on the critiques. about the badges, how would i do that? and what is bmf? the wheels are a funny story actually. my friend had a ford f-150 lightning model, and lost the suspension pieces for it, so he gave me the wheels. i color matched them to the body as best as i could. so how do you guys feel as far as the pro touring look goes about this one?

Ah! Thought they looked familiar. I think they fit perfectly for a pro touring style.

Bare Metal Foil is basically like a really thin tinfoil with an adhesive on one side. It's what modellers use to detail small parts of the car (sometimes big ones too actually) like window trim and badges. You can purchase it at most local hobby shops, or on their website. If you need more info on it, check out the FAQ in the main forum.

I'm not sure what it looks like as the photos are bigger then the screen on this computer. Aside from that I'm happy to see someone has built a muscle car model, good work.

hey that model is lookin good. is that an automotive paint? anyway i dont have much to say the rims give the muscle car a modern look. very nice.

i have one question though, is that normal for those wheels to be so far back into the wells, or is that because the kit wheels where wider? just wonderin. other than that, perfect start!!:grinyes:

hey, thanks for all the compliments guys. i got some pics of the engine bay. it doesnt have much detail, just basically the engine, and thats it. i am gonna go back and put the rest of the stuff in it. im also gonna paint the fender wells. now that you see the engine you can tell why i did the interior blue... about the wheels so far under the car, i was trying to get them well inside the body lines so they werent to flashy. i was originally gonna go with chrome, but decided to switch it up. next one im gonna do is probably gonna have big ol' fat tires on the rear.

Pretty good for your first effort!
Go to the "How To" section, or "FAQ", and look up 'washes'. It's basically a very watered down paint (I use turps and oil paints, works fantastic for me). Use the wash to run around panel lines, and even the lines moulded into the seat fabric. It'll really help bring out the realism.
