We just bought a 96 LS 4dr 4x4 w/150K for $2000 froma family friend, and I finally got to check it out a little bit better tonight. Please answer my questions, Thanks Mike

1. Sludgey Rad. Fluid--- Do I need to use the Dextron3 or can I use the new ready mixed stuff? I'm gonna flush it before I do anything though.

2. Dark Murky Brake Fluid--- Suck out the old and put new in the holder, then bleed untill they all come out clean right?

3. Needs a Air filter--- New paper or go with a K&N or cone?

4. Oil Change--- 4.5 qts? I got 10W30 cause thats what AutoZone recomended for over 150K engines

5. Cracked Washer fluid container- Got one from the junkyard. :)

ANYTHING ELSE?

If you're going to flush it, go with the pre-mixed stuff. It's half the price of Death-cool.

For the amount of miles, My choice would be paper filter, but again, that's just my opinion.

Changing the plugs would top my list, along with a new PCV unit and a fuel filter for good measure.

Good luck to you, and Welcome.

Flush the radiator, replace with the DexCool, and replace the stock radiator cap with an aftermarket cap from Stant. If you plan to replace the stock air filter with a K&N, make sure that it isn't too heavily pre-oiled. Sometimes
the excess air filter oil can gum up your mass airflow sensor. Periodically check for excess oil in the airflow tube that connects to the filter box.
