2000 eclipse GT. i got the 7 speaker 210watt infinity sound sys in there

i have the main wiring harness for a new head unit and appearently all it offers me is the power for the head unit so i see that this one bus-style cable runs to the amp so i guess i need to bypass this amp?

first off, where is the dam amp even at in the car

second, is the amp and cross-overs for the component speakers the same unit so i have to get new crossovers for the shit too or what?

let me know anything else you feel is appropriate for me to know for this project please

your help is appreciated

so i did some searching to find some answers for my own questions that i wish to share

http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=434

that is an adapter that will work on either side of the signal bus cable going from the factory head unit to the factory amp so you can use it to use a new head unit with the existing amp/speakers/wiring or you can use the factory head unit with a new amp and any wiring you want from there

and ya the factory amp's under the passenger seat

i still dont know if this "MR400692" factory Infinity amp unit also contains the crossovers for the conponent speakers or not so if anyone knows, let me know

You are asking about crossovers for component speakers correct? Now, when you are talking about components are you refering to the stock speakers, or aftermarket components you put in. Stock speakers are NOT components (far from it). The stock amp is probably set for safe shitty speaker settings (no boosted db's or high or low frequencies). I doubt there is anything you can tune with it because it's stock. Since you put in a new head unit you may as well put in new speakers. Anf if you are putting in new speakers why would you want to run the stock amp...you are just holding yourself back and defeating the purpose of upgrading speakers. Better speakers need more power, and 210watt aint gonna cut it. If you have specific questions PM me, Ill let you know what I think.
