My parents have given me the honor of selling the old van and gettin about 2500 for it since i want a new car. i was thinking about doing the vq35de swap, but im not sure if it would fit in my B15 sentra se... its also an auto so im thinking of swappin the trans as well, if its even worth swapping for all that tq. but i dont remember what all i would need for it, since i do have all the B15 stuff. all i can think of at the moment is the motor mounts, ecu, and trans. otherwise if u can think of another idea feel free to post it up

vq swap wont work on teh se or gxe i dont think, turbo on a sr20 would be your best bet, it is a tried and true boosted motor, however if you can get someone to see what kind of work it would take to get the vq to fit in the se that might be your better bet

Honestly, I'd swap that engine out to a different SR20, no matter what. The SR you have right now, sucks.
If it were my car, I'd swap the tranny and get an SR20VE from jgycustoms.com
But, if you really want a lot of power, swap to a DET. DON'T turbo your DE. And you'd need a decent tranny with strengthened gears.

i agree on not turboing the stock motor. get a high port pulsar or bluebird SR if your going for a DET. and get your tranny gears cryotreated and strengthened right away. and it might be benificial to replace the synchros and seals also if your knee deep in the tranny anyways. good luck i cant wait to see some future pics and progress updates

what is its peak tq and hp at what rpm? Only thing though is what tranny to go with with the sr20ve, 6 sp spec-v, 5 sp se, that is what concerns me the most and for stayin in the power band. otherwise i dont think i would need much else after that, but only thing is now is if i would pass emissions and such. jgy's install rates are resonable, but i cant tell where they are located at this time. it seems to me that this would end up being a bigger project than i thought and will cost more that 3 grand to do. i dont have the space to have the engine and tranny sitting in my garage due to the new cars my parents just bought (06 corolla xrs and 05 sienna) i think the best thing to do as of right now is to buy the 200sx se-r 1995 i think but it seems like im goin back in time where all the new elcronic equipment and the previous tuning methods were used in the suspension.
is there any other things that i would need to complete this swap besides the engine, trans, all the tranny cables and such? cuz if thats so i can start buying the parts now and then be ready for it to go in during the summer if im lucky...

well now that it has been mentioned......the ve swap may not have the absolute power potential the vq has, but swap in pistons and rods from a DET and then add teh turbo......a boosted sr20 with VVL does disgusting things to other cars

yes, an SR20VET is deadly on the road.
Alright, Chiquae, here's what you do. Go get you an SR20VE and a regular ol' SR20 tranny from an SE-R. That's it. Have your local shop do it. It's not hard. You don't need to head all the way to VA to have JGY do it. Just grab the motor, the tranny, the ECU, and the VVL electronics. Done. Quick car, sweet sounding motor. Swap in some 300ZX pistons later on and grab a JGY turbo kit.

300zx instead of DET? Now im not going to throw down against teh sr20 meister but i thought the DET's were recomended for that project, not that it makes a big difference ive just never heard that you could use those

Yes, the 300ZX motor is like the SR30. Same motor with 2 more cylinders in a V shape. I wouldn't worry about any of that right now anyway. Just grab you an SR20VE and tell those street racing punks at the stoplights that you just got the stock motor in your car.

lol....i dont even have to do that. all i want to do is run mid-high 14s without F/I if possible and get over 20mpg....
but more about the tranny...are you talking about a trans some a early 90s Se-R? and i'm not too bright about tranny's, but can tell when they are dead and such. is it wise to open it up and do a flush and b4 giving it to my shop as well? im trying to avoid the 5th gear pop out as much as i can that i kno is a common problem with those trannys.
wouldnt i also need all the linkage for the clutch and things for the transmission swap? im going to start parting everything by the end of this month so i dont spend the money on other non sense, and the engine will come last in the summer/ late spring.
would it be possible to have the tranny already hooked up to my current engine when i get it and have installed so i get used to the gear ratios, or will it not fit? i wanna do this one step at a time.

Don't do the tranny and motor seperately. It will cost you twice as much. Get any SR20 tranny. From a 1991-97 SE-R, 91-93 NX2000...it doesn't matter. You could even get a tranny from a G20, your car will be a smidge slower with slightly better gas mileage. I don't know much about swapping from autos to manuals, but just let the shop worry about that. And yes, just have it flushed and cleaned and all lubed up before install. Only a 91-93 tranny could possibly have 5th gear pop-out, and even then it's like a $100 fix.
Your car is gonna be doing mid-14's with a VE and get BETTER mileage than with your DE. Yes, a VE gets better mileage than a DE. Who knew???
I did.

the point is i dont want a spec.....and i did send an email to jgy about what comes with their sr20ve and they told me this
"5/8th's of the motor"
wtf does that mean?

Haha, you've obviously never dealt with JGY before. They're fuckin with you.
It's just the motor, dude.

thats what i thought i was like wtf but then thougth about it lol, so i guess i gotta search for my tranny in my local junkyards. i doubt it'll cost more than 600 bucks with everything i need for my tranny swap if i take my mechanic neighbor with me to take off the car....
speaking of the ecu, are u talkin about one imported for the sr20ve, or from the se-r?
and the VVL elctronics, i have no idea what those are... i dont think they would be any different than like honda's v-tec elctronics but nissan...where would i look for such a piece?
thanks for all your help so far. i swaer u should be a nissan mod...i wonder where we nominate you for such things...

You send in your stock ECU to JimWolf technology to have it reprogrammed for an SR20VE.
And for the VVL activation, you'll need either Summit Solenoid switches(available from JGY), or the Greddy MSS controller(JGY probably carries those too). Both of them activate the cam solenoids at certain rpms. The Greddy is nicer tho and can sit on your dash, whereas the Summit sits in your engine bay.
