99 Silverado Dash Lights Flashing

I have a 99 4x4 x-cab Silverado. For months now, my low fuel light keeps coming on even though I have filled it recently and the gas gage will drop to empty. Few minutes later it will go back to normal. About 2 weeks all my dash lights started blinking on and off and the gages would all drop and go back up. They were like on a timer...on off on off. I pulled over and turned the truck off, then it took about 3 tries to get it started again. Its done it once since then. Also, if I press both buttons for the front windows at the same time, my headlights dim, is that normal? Any ideas what could be wrong? I take it to the shop tomorrow but after the hell I went through with my Blazer, it would be nice to have an idea what I am in for
Thanks,
Trisha

For the fuel problem it is probably the fuel level sensor. The problems with the lights and guages there is a technical service bullitin on the problem, it doesn't say anything about the lights flashing or the guages going up and down, but they just quit working, the problem is the ignition switch. The lights dimming when you push both window buttons, if the windows are up and you push the button to put them up then it will dim the lights, it is pulling a lot of load when you do that. Every vechile with power windows that I have been in will do the same thing. I would also have the battery and alternator tested.

If I were you, I'd go get the alternator checked. It sounds like it could be going out, or mayb there's a short in your charging system. Also check the battery cables to make sure theyre clean and corrosion free and also tight. A loose or corroded battery cable can make weird things happen!

Right when the Positive Terminal was ready to come out of my battery my dash did all sorts of wiggy things. Gauges full one way then the other, Check engine light battery light.... After I replaced the battery it was fine. Crappy old A/C Delco batteries anyways.

I just had a new battery put in the end of summer. All the terminals are clean and tight. Nothing is showing on the message center. Didnt get it in the shop yesterday, but I will let you know what it is when I do in case someone else has the same problem. I really appreciate all your suggestions :)
