Will Not Start

My moms 94' buick Park Avenue will not start.
It makes the noise like it will but it doesn't
It has a new battery and everything.....what could it be?

Some basic test needed first, do you have spark and fuel?

Yes, it is getting fuel, we will check the spark next.

What is the best way to check the spark?
It has a new crank shaft sensor, new harmonic balancer.

If you don't have the usual spark tester, you can pull a plug wire and insert a spare sparkplug in the wire boot. Touch the plug to ground while someone turn the engine over. You should have a good blue spark on the plug, just like it was in the combustion chamber. You can aslo use a screwdriver inserted into the wire boot to see if you have spark to ground. It should fire to ground about 1/4 to 1/2 in. The spark needs to be blue in color in order to fire the engine. If you have a timing light, you can use that just like you are checking the timing. If you have light, you have fire. The only problem with this method is, you can not see how hot the flame is.

My dad had checked the car for the spark...THERE WAS NONE!!!!

It would be nice if you had a scanner to check engine RPM while trying to start it. If you don't get a RPM reading, that would tell you if it is the crank sensor. If you can't do that, you may have to change parts to find the problem. Usually, it is either the crank sensor or the ICM (ignition control module) located under the coil packs. I assume from your original post, that the engine is turning over when you attempt to start it.

Harmonic balancer has been changed
Crank shaft sensor has been changed
It is getting fuel
Car turns over
No fuel

Price of a new ICM can range from $125-$200 depending on where you get it. I would go to a bone yard and pick up a good used one for 50 bucks or less. It is located under the coils. You need to remove the small bolts (2) on each coil and set all the coils aside. The ICM has a wiring connector with one small screw in the center. Remove the screw and pull off the connector. The ICM will just lift out. You could take it to AutoZone for testing, before you purchase another one.

What else could I tell my dad to get my moms car back on the road......

I'd remove the coils and ignition module, take them to autozone and have them tested there. If they test bad, then you found your no-spark problem. It only takes a few minutes to remove from the car and the test is free, so you can't go wrong!
