This is not car audio related, but hoping someone like SR might be able to help me out here. I recently bought a new Plasma t.v, and the guy at the store was saying to not play video games on it, and that its bad for the t.v. I dont understand how it is bad for the plasma though....I understand "screen burn" i think its called, when a bright constant image can damage the bubbles, but how is that different from watching everyday t.v. Isnt the same signal being sent from a gaming console?

Most video games have a console, or standing image at the bottom or sides that doesn't go away, and it can cause screen burn. Besides that, nothing is wrong with playing video games on the TV.

I know I'm probably not one of the guys you wanted to hear from, but here is a link that kind of explains tv burn-in. Basicly like jet lee said it is from an image staying in one place for too long and then you can always see it in the background. A couple articles online talked about people sueing tv manufacturers for that happening to there tv. Another place you can get tv burn-in is like certain tv channels leave their logo in the bottom corner, like alot of news channels do that. So it's not just video games. But I'm no expert and I'm just telling you what I've found. Hope it helps.

Thanx for the replies, so such games like first person shooters such as Halo2 should be fine the right? because its a constant moving image.....although there are little icons an such that dont go away ( shield meter ect.) it seems pretty stupid that such a little thing that is so common to see on tv can screw up a nice tv. I might take bak the plasma just because of that reason.

Right, it's because of the constant images that are on video games that normally aren't there with regular TV, like the gauge cluster in a racing game, health bars, etc.
I think it's pretty stupid that some TVs nowadays are still suffering from it, especially ones that are so expensive, but whatever.
