The key in the ignition. It won't turn. but after a few tries it goes. I know I touched on this b4 but i cant find the thread.

Its probably the steering wheel lock pin that retracts when you turn the key . Like with most things it might operate slower in cold weather due to the grease on it . Do you have a problem after a short stop when the interior is still warm ? Rob

Sorry so late...my 95 does the same thing but I just pull it out and flip the key and it works...if I could only remember to put in upside down first I wouldn't have that problem.

i had that prob...and my simple fix was to take the best key i had...my spare key and have it dupated and then i had 2 good keys and put the spare key back in to my hiding place and used the new key and worked fine since...guess 10 years or so of wear on metal does have a effect... :)

This is my theory as well, try just pulling the steering wheel a little side to side and se if it releases.
I had 1 car in the car lot last week where I was really cursing until I realized what was happening (the first time in 20 years of driving where I didn't clue right in.... I must be getting old)

Every duplicate key we've gotten made does this. My wife's original key works flawlessly, but my duplicate needs to be pulled out half a millimeter before it'll turn. I've gotten pretty good at turning it now but it drives my wife crazy if she needs to use it, especially when trying to jiggle it to pull out that tiny little amount while pushing the cylinder in to go into the accessory position... That same key works all door locks perfectly.

I see GM's almost everyday that have stubborn key cylinders, this may be what you're running into. On most that I see, you can wiggle the key around and it will break free.

How about just oiling the cylinder? Sewing machine should work allright

and on the other hand if that does not work maybe u can get a new cylinder and have it rekeyed to work with your current keys....i had to do that for the tailgate of my old blazer i do not have anymore the cyl ran me 9 bucks brand new and then took it to the gm dealer who i convinced em to rekey it for free and it worked... so if u are up to the work give it a shot...

i've never had problems with my truck's key cylinder but when i was at the local vo tech we had a 97 s10 that the key would constantly get stuck in the ignition. im guessing the key cylinders fail alot on these trucks
