You can't swap the 2.8 tranny to the 4.3

If you want a bigger, better motor a 3.4L from a Comaro is a direct bolt in.

You'll need some of your existing parts like your oil pan, and the oil pump pickup.
Get your flywheel re-balanced for the 3.4L motor.
electric fuel pump. I just did a how to on this a few days ago, and can probably dig it up.
You'll need all the 3.4L accessories since it's a serpentine system not fan belt system.
And your carburated intake manifold (or go aftermarket.)

nobody has said if i could swap bellhousings from a 2.8 to a 4.3. Will using the 4.3 bellhousing work to bolt up to my 5sp tranny. thats all i need to know. any info would be great. Im doing this on a small budget. I already have the 4.3 motor. Its been punched out .040 over. I'm not going to get a 3.4L motor. i think that there all junk. the 4.3 is the only v-6 that I will put my money in to for a rebuild. I don't want to have to change the motor again cuz someone says to use a 3.4L. Its a 4.3 or nothing!!!!

Because you can't.

The bell housings don't seperate from the transmissions

That's somewhat untrue. The 96+ bell housings are seperate from the tranny for the 4.3, but they won't fit the 60 degree transmission

I'm partly wrong then, sorry. But I was right about his bellhousing.

If he was going to do this swap what transmission would you recomend Rlith? (Just so you know trlblzr, Rlith is probably the most knowlegable person for that sort of info on this board)

Any chevy manual tranny the bellhousing will come off theres only four bolts that hold the bellhousing to the actual transmission. Overboardproject must not do alot of manual tranny changes. I've swapped out a straight 6 3 on the tree out of a '61 impala and put in a 350 v-8 auto out of a '76 chevy truck. Is there an adapter made for the 4.3 bellhousing to bolt to the 5sp manual i bought. I do know one thing. When this is done I think I'm the only person to bolt a 4.3l to a 5sp? After I'm done I'll post everything that I learned about this cuz I can't find anyone that has done this.

Your talking really old school transmissions, a completely different ball park than the S-10!

And why would I have to do many transmissions unless I drive like an a$$ braking parts

When I looked for an adaptor plate I didn't find any, but they might exist.
But then again if you were right about the bellhousing being removeable with 4 bolts why would you need it
.
Don't think that your special, I've known people to bolt in comaro 5 speeds with 350's into their S10 that came with autmatic transmissions.

Good Luck on your project.

well swapping a "comaro" Camaro tranny is easier cuz of the v-8 you mentioned. Thats why you think im "special". Cuz if you read all these post I still havent heard from any one whos done this to a BLAZER!!!Not a camero. So any one out there who has done any thing like this to an S-10 Blazer any info would be great. Thanks Trlblzr!!!

*edit*

Posts re-read and I realized my post was unnecessary.

I can top that , I have never done ANY of the above swaps !!!! Just R&R of the same peices , But I think there are plenty of sources that can help other than US . Most of which is hard earned and seldom repeated . Rob
