Car covers?

Not sure if this the right forum to ask this question, but hopefully someone can help me or point me in the right direction. I just bought a new car and unfortunately I don't have a garage. I don't want the paint to die under the FL sun, so I was looking into outdoor car covers. The custom-fit ones I'm running into for sun protection seem to run around $340-is this normal? Are car covers required for outdoor cars? Are certain car covers much better than others? Could I build a carport for anywhere near this price (like a big aquare tent made out of UV protectant material?). Thanks.

I'm assuming you bought a nice new car if you care that much about keeping the paint fresh. I don't think I would want to deal with the hassel of taking the cover on and off every day when I wanted to drive to work or whatever. But yes, car covers are great for a car you want to keep in good shape, and the good car covers aren't very cheap. But here is what you might want to consider: What is cheaper, car cover or new paint job?

Thats my 2 cents.

He's right, I bough a universal car cover for about $50 and that is whats on my t/a right now. Since I only take it out on weekends then I just leave it off after I get home, wash my car on sunday and do it again next week. As for building a full cover it would be close to the same price and that way is better. You want have tree branches falling on your car etc, it will protect it a little bit better.
