Front Diff Question

Can a front diff from a 2nd gen mount into the 1st gen without modification? I need a front diff for an 89 with 3.42 ratio.. Thanks

For those of you who looked and didn't know,96 and newer use a slip on axle, 95 and older is a bolt on axle style.

Then question #2 is will it work if you used the matching axles as well?

98 started the slip in axle, 97 and under use 6 bolts to attach the cvaxle to the front differential
