patching holes

hey.. has someone every patched holes after unmounting the spoiler or something by himself?

I wanna give it a try. If there are any experienced members in this forum, please answer. I thought about using bonda. The shitty part will prolly be the repainting. I know aribrush pretty well but never airbrushed a car.
just gimme your ideas please.

Yea use bondo its really good. Just work fast, it hardens pretty quick. the repainting part is a pain. Trust me, just pay for it to get professionally done. When I had my eclipse I repainted it my self (when I put on the turbo spoiler)...but I SEMI-got away with it because it was the color black.

NO, DON'T USE BONDO. Don't use Bondo to fill holes. You should get it professionally done by welding in metal to fill the holes. Bondo should never take the place of metal. Bondo should only be used to work out the final countour of the metal surface. If you use it to fill in holes it is eventually going to crack and look like crap. Get it done right!

vanilla pretty much nailed it right on. if you want to patch them for good your going to have to weld the holes shut. depending on how lucky you are, bondo might work for a couple weeks if it doesn't seep through the hole but i doubt it would work. what you can do just to plug them up for now is just get some of those plastic "holder-togethers" (i can't think of the name of them right now) it's just a plastic "nail" with a bunch of "fin" thingys on the shaft. i won't be surprised if you have no idea what i'm talking about.

I'm not sure which pieces you're talking about but I guess they're called "christmas tree clips"

on my old spyder right before the accident I went and removed the spoiler. I tack welded some metal plates to the back of the hole area's then filled with bondo. I only had it a week afters so I can't say how long it would have lasted. But you definately need something to support the back of the hole. Any vibration is gonna shake it loose otherwise.

Well, what I did was place a this piece of material behind with holes. (Forgot name, lol) And it was sticky in one side....so, I would place it on the underside of metal, and when I put n the bondo, it seeped through the material (had holes) and it grabbed on it. It worked pretty well. After it dried and I tried to push my finger through it and it held right there. Not one budge.

Just get it painted professionally.!

your paint holes never dipped in then or anything?
