I have a 98 LS sedan riding on stock 14inch rims. Is it legal to upgrade 3inches to 17inch rims? If so, will these bigger rims screw up my ride quality, acceleration, etc?

i don't think its illegal to get bigger rims but i guess it all depends on where your from, if you get wider tires you will hear more road noise and such and getting biggers rims can offset your speedo a little

Bigger rims aren't a problem if you over all wheel diameter stays the same. But that also means thinner rubber and more to worry about with pot holes. If you increase your wheel diameter then your speedometer will be off. I'm not sure if you can adjust it some how or if you would need a new one though... Just stay away from 18" rims and definately 19" rims and you should be alright. 17" rims still leave you with enough rubber that they wont get damaged unless you hit a really nasty hole.

be sure to get the correct offset of the rims, and don't buy anything wider than 7.5". the ideal rim would be 17x7. i think the offset is 40mm and the lug pattern is 4x100. good luck with your search
