Proud to say that i just today purchased a 2005 v6 Mustang. I have every intention of modding it out with performance parts (looks just the way i want it though so we won't touch that) but i have a few questions for anyone kind enough to help
The mods i intend to make are as follows
*Single cat-back exhaust system
*High Flow heads and cat converter
*Supercharger
*Cold Air Intake
Questions are...
Where should i look for a single cat back exhaust? I might go with the dual, if so, i know that magnaflow makes one....however that all depends on how it would look, i gotta take a closer glimps and the body around the exhaust tommorow. Who makes a cat back that provides REAL performance enhancement
Should i use the same company for the heads and cat converter as i do for the cat back?
and
SHould i purchase a supercharger directly from Ford? From what i understand, the Cobra chargers are well built and are high on performance increases.....however, if i should stick with aftermarket....who's the best to go with?

A "Cobra" supercharger? You mean from the 03/04 Cobra? Thats a positive displacement blower for a 281ci 4.6l V8. It will absolutely not fit a V6.
Listen to a few sound clips on the net for help with your personal exhaust preference.
Look into Vortech or Procharger for a centrifigul supercharger for your V6.
Not sure if there are any other heads for it.
I think that Cold Air Intakes are a waste of $ since they really dont add any power. You cant tell a difference in them unless you do a before and after dyno on the same dyno(all dynos are a little different) on the same day(weather). Even then you would be lucky to see 2-3hp if any at all.

Sure you can. I would highly suggest a CAI with boost. If you go with a centrifugal supercharger just get a rubber coupling and connect a peice of large pvc pipe to the inlet side of the blower. Get a pvc elbow and run the pipe into the fender, then get another coupling and attach a conical filter to the end of the pvc that goes into the fender. Thats what I'm doing with mine anyway. You dont want foreign objects to take out your impeller.
On the passenger side mounted centrifugal blowers the blower inlet is right there at the exhaust manifolds/headers. So unless you want to suck in hot air thats just gonna get hotter I would suggest redirecting the inlet airflow as mentioned above.
Water/alky, meth injection, a/a intercooler, or a/w intercooler will help alot with the air temp entering your motor from blower/turbo. For a daily driver I would suggest an a/a intercooler. I plan on running 10-12 psi with my S-trim non intercooled for now. However as soon as funds allow I'm gonna put an air/air intercooler behind the bumper.

yeah u can run a CAI with a supercharger, there really isnt any reason you couldnt, unless you just didnt have the room left in the engine bay. with turbos it is a little harder, but its still possible.

Care to explain the difference between a pre-fabbed ~$200 CIA and the homemade one I explained for a centrifugal blower? I do agree a CIA on a stock car is completely useless, if you read my other post you would realize that.

For instance, in straight line performance like my car.. I'm running 3.55 gears with 26" MT DR's. That will put me at about 6000rpms @ about 125 mph in drive. Thats good for 10's all day. Yet I can still run about 2500 rpms @ 55mph for interstate driving since this car will be a daily driver.
Point being, steep gears and boost just dont work. I doubt this guys v6 is gonna be a 1/8mile drag car where he may get by with steeper gears, no its probably gonna be a daily driver of weekend fun car, therefore I would suggest either 3.55 or 3.27 rear gears.

i agree with this, another issue though, why would you go with a centrifigul blower if you had the choice. thats the worst form of boost possible. it a turbo with more parasitic loss, go with a screw type or roots blower.

Well thats one opinion. But then look at Tim Huspen and his orange '86 coupe running 8.20's around 170mph in the quarter. He has a blow thrue 351 with an F2 ProCharger, which is a centrifigul blower..cant be that bad.
I would rather have a turbo on my car just because I you dont seen many turbocharged mustangs on the streets around here.
However your arguement about the positive displacement blower is purely your opinion. They are very overrated. Sure they came out on the 03/04 cobra so they gotta be awsome right? Well, not so much for alot of power on the street. Traction is a huge issue with big hp roots/twin screw street cars. They also cost alot more and are more of a pain to tune. Also what happens if you get caught out in the rain? Even 400rwtq with a positive displacement blower is gonna get squirly on wet roads. Take a centrifugal blower or a turbo, stay away from WOT and you keep up engine vacuum therefore your motor sees no boost. They are alot more streetable, lots of power there when you want it and calm as a kitten the rest of the time. Ya a big roots blower looks cool, but I'll take my $2000 S-trim and absolutely rape a $5000 Kenne Bell positive displacement blower. Just something to think about. If I was building a '32 Ford chromed out show car then sure I could see a huge blower sittin up there, but in my 10 second street car, its just not gonna happen. Thats my opinion though. new edge SN95s have 3.27 gears stock, foxes and early SN95s have 2.73s and foxes have a shorter OD ratio then the SN95. if you dont believe me on the 4.10s go over to mustangforums.com and PM nanaki and ask him how much he "loves" his 3.73s and blower. 4.10s on a centrifical would be fine but i would say for a roots or twin screw to do 3.55 (or 3.45s for the V-6).

taking into consideration all the blowers available for the mustang (dont know of a roots or twinscrew out for a v6) but anyway roots vs centri the centri makes more power at the same boost levels. twin screw vs centri is a different story but i wouldnt say roots is better than centrifugal, there are so many numbers to prove that wrong.

This statement really doesnt even deserve a response..all I have to say is you obviously have no clue about the topic at hand. Take Tim H for example, spins his motor 9,000rpms yes nine thousand, and he is last I heard running 3.55's although he may have switched to 3.27's..not sure. Thats on a tire probably about 29" tall. So, if your sold on rediculously steep gears and a blower go right ahead..but I'll take the route thats tried and true. I just hope nobody spends any money on 4.10's for a blower car unless maybe they have a rotary and plan to run the 1/8 mile.

new edge SN95s have 3.27 gears stock, foxes and early SN95s have 2.73s and foxes have a shorter OD ratio then the SN95. if you dont believe me on the 4.10s go over to mustangforums.com and PM nanaki and ask him how much he "loves" his 3.73s and blower. 4.10s on a centrifical would be fine but i would say for a roots or twin screw to do 3.55 (or 3.45s for the V-6).
This statement really doesnt even deserve a response..all I have to say is you obviously have no clue about the topic at hand. Take Tim H for example, spins his motor 9,000rpms yes nine thousand, and he is last I heard running 3.55's although he may have switched to 3.27's..not sure. Thats on a tire probably about 29" tall. So, if your sold on rediculously steep gears and a blower go right ahead..but I'll take the route thats tried and true. I just hope nobody spends any money on 4.10's for a blower car unless maybe they have a rotary and plan to run the 1/8 mile.

If you think about it thats all a CIA is. Its just an extension between the air filter and the carb/throttle body.

and whats wrong with it, a basic 99-04 Gt with a 5 speed has an OD ratio of .62, and with 4.10 gears it would have no problem going in the quarter mile out of 4th gear

i never liked using the arguement 'so and so has...and they...' doesnt really matter if you have a twin screw @ 14psi and u like 4.30 gears, go for it. might not be the most practical choice but its whatever best suites your driving style. some guys with cobras are afraid to go past 3.73s, others use 4.56s...whats the right choice? depends on driver. im not afraid to go higher, 4.10s on my 2v 4.30s on my 4v. right now i just have stock 3.55 from saleen but thatll change.
