1996 200sx se Power Lock Problem

Searched on several Forums and cannot find anything about this!
Am I the only Nissan owner with a problem with my power locks? :P

Here is the scenario:

1. Push lock switch (on either door) backward = nothing at all. no click...nothing.
2. Manually lock both doors.
3. Push lock switch forward = unlocks.

Is this normal/as designed or am I doing something wrong? I have no manual so I do not know. Seems one would be able to lock AND unlock from the switch. :screwy:
