i just bought an 87 fiero gt 2.8v6,finally got it to start now i got power issues. i'm not sure if the firing order i used is the right one. I'm in the caribbean so i'm kinda on my own here.it's the only car of it's kind on the island.Another thing the emissions system on the car, what happens if u don't connect them. We don't really need that here. I would really appreciate some help. Thanks

According to the Haynes Manual the fireing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6, the distributor rotation is clockwise.

cylinder numbers right to left, the transaxel is on your left:

1-3-5
2-4-6

When changing wires/spark plugs do 1 at a time or mark very well which wire from the distributor to which spark plug.

When removing spark plugs be forwarned that they may be stuck in place (corrosion) and it may require penetrating oil and patience to remove them. If the plugs don't come out easily, DON'T FORCE THEM. You will have the horrible opportunity to break the plugs off and that may require the head to be taken off.

I took nearly 3 weeks to get my plugs out of my V6, after the plugs were in for about six years and 40,000 miles.

If you have other issues check out any error codes stored in the car's ECM.

http://floridafieros.org/osg/codes.html is a list of ecm trouble codes and how to obtain the readings with a paperclip.

thanks a lot Lar,yeah the spark plugs were a little hard but they came out with no problems. Just for clarification, cylinders 2,4,6 are right in front of me and 1,3,5 at the back of the engine. And in the same order as you gave?Cool, now where can i find a diagram that shows exactly where the plugs go on the distributor? Thanks again can't wait to get the car working right.

The distributor wires on my two V6 Fieros are both set up the same. The flat side if the distributor cap is pointed towatd the left rear wheel, various wires are coming out from the distributor.

The number 1 plug is at the 2 O'clock position, number two is about 12, #3 is at 10, #4 is at 8 #5 is at 6 and #6 is at 4.

Now if the distributor was installed differently (flat side pointed to the right rear) the plug wires may be in a different position. That was done to one of my cars and I had a hard time getting the car started when I corrected the positions. (Disconect the battery to make the ECM lose its settings and start over) I only do one wire to spark plug, getting the wires mixed up can be a nightmare to correct without a reference to compare it to. Good luck
