Air Bag Light

I was wondering if anyone knew what it meant when the airbag light in my escort flashes twice and then four times, then twice and then four times again and then stays on until the car is shut off. I have no manual for the car. If anyone has any ideas, I would be greatful. Thank You.

I don't mean to sound like a smartass... but it I would assume that signal means that it isn't working correctly and you need to get it serviced. Airbag maintenance isn't likely to be in any manuals and robably isn't something to do yourself. Besides, if something goes wrong and it gets set off I'd rather have a shop be responsible so I don't have to buy a new one :P
A phone call to a dealership might get you an answer to the light code.
I would assume that the signal from the airbag sensors has been lost, and that is causing the light to come on.

It is a flash out code, code 24 is "safing sensor output feed/return circuit open", the diag for a code like this is not something you want to do yourself, there is chance that you could deploy the air bag and injure yourself, you should take it to a dealer that will fix it, the air bag system goes into a default mode when a code is present, so the system now is deactivated through the control components,
