Smoking a Cigar Properly

Anyone know how to properly cut, light, and smoke a cigar?

I've smoked those cheap gas station Honey Dutches once or twice, not exactly good stuff, but i usually gut them and roll a blunt. Now, though, my friend's grandmother (cuban) has given me a $25 dominican cigar, which i obviously don't want to ruin.

So, what i know is, you use a single blade to cut the head of the cigar (head is the part you smke from) right about where the cap meets wrap, right?

to light it, i use a cigar lighter (which i don't have) or at least a long wooden match. If i'm using a match, i let the sulfer burn away first, then light it.
When i'm lighting it, you just puck it, right? kinda puck n puff?

Cut around where it stops curving and becomes straight. Edit: Make sure it's SUPER sharp - cigar cutter is best - you don't want to "squish" it at all, you want an even cut

Light either with a very long match, after letting the sulphur burn, or light a piece of cedar and use that to light the cigar.

Never blow through the cigar, only suck.

Yeah if you want to not ruin it, and also make yourself feel big get a cigar cutter.. talk about feeling rich.

If you're going to get a cigar cutter, I suggest getting a double bladed one. I have a single blade and I don't think it makes as good of a cut.

yeah, i've heard double-bladed does work a lot better.
Hopefully, i'll become a cigar man by the time summer rolls around. :smokin:

Last cigar i smoked was a Cohiba on new years, $13 a piece, i made sure i took the right steps to make it as good of an experience as it could be... no more cigars for me though, i'm done.

I paid $60 the price tag on it was $80 IIRC

I bought it at a cigar shop over in Peoria that was going out of business. Honestly I used it for about a month and thats it. I never bought to many cigars at a time so I they didn't stay in it to long. It ended up being just another small piece of furniture in my den until my neighbor asked about it and I traded it for some rear lowering shackles for my Silverado.

Check thompson cigar out online they usually have some decent deals.

From what I understand the proper way of lighting a cigar is with a piece of cedar. But i don't know.

Hold it like a blunt.

Hold it like a blunt.

nah, you hold it between your middle and ring finger. cigarretts are between your middle and pointer, and a blunt, you hold with your thumb and pointer. atleast that's what Columbo did :p

the proper way to smoke a cigar is to remove the outter leaf, crack the inner leaf, dump out the brown log of shit and fill it with some ganja, roll the inside leaf back up, roll the outside leaf back on and light it.

and when you smoke it you gotta rest the cigar on your middle finger and wrap your pointer around the top. kinda like you're making a shadow puppet of a duck.

Well, i smoked the Leon Jimenes today, it was a very nice tasting cigar. smooth and minty, kinda, then a lot of wood. ne way, thanks for the help. with any luck, i'll be a classy cigar man, or a laid back cubano with loafers.
