OK This has been a long time problem that I decided to just deal with, but lately it's been exceeding frustrating... Sooo My '90 z28 RS Camaro Will start up fine but once I have driven long enough that the engine reaches normal running tempature, If I turn it off It will not start back up until the engine has cooled (usually takes 45min to an hour) I have also noticed that it will take conciderably longer if I keep trying to start it every few minutes. It wont even try to turn over when I turn the key. When It is first turned off and I try to start it nothing at all happens, but after I wait about 20 minutes and try to start it I hear a faint click and under the hood on top of the engine (sorry i dont know the technical terms) there is a constant repetitive clicking sound whenever the key is turned. Advice Is Greatly Needed and Apprishiated

My 95 chevy lumina APV mini van does something similiar. I'm not a mechanic, but my dad is and he said "There is a grimlin in the distributor." Sometimes if you wiggle the distributor on my van it will fire right up.

I don't know though wait until someone more knowledgeable replies.

sound like eletrical to me, check for any burnt or cut wires.

Bingo! Next time it does that, have someone try to start the car while you slide under it with a hammer and whack the starter a couple times. If it starts right up, change the starter.

Bad starter solenoid, can't stay engaged.
